Build Calculator

Skill points in The Blood of Dawnwalker are finite, and the 30-day clock caps how many you will ever see. Decide the allocation before your first spend: pick an archetype, set the pool your run actually grants, and check the shape before you commit a single point.

Total skill points your run grants. The exact pool is in-game data, so set this to what your version gives you — every output below scales with it.

-3 points uncommitted (pool − committed − reserve).

This allocation is a Swordsman build (99% match with the published structure).

Daylight power 85% of committed points
Night power 85% of committed points

Swordmastery counts for both halves of the day, so the two bars can each approach 100% of your committed points.

Point plan by tier
Tier Points Sw / Wi / Va What you are buying
Tier 1 18 18 / 0 / 0 Your core loop — combo chains, parry recovery, the basics that make every fight work
Tier 2 12 9 / 3 / 0 A full sword kit instead of a partial one, plus daylight survivability
Tier 3 6 0 / 0 / 6 Night coverage without abandoning the sword, and the endgame payoff nodes
  • Problem You have planned more points than your pool holds. Reduce a tree or the reserve.

The link stays on this page — the build travels in the URL, so nothing is stored.

How the calculator works

The calculator is a planner built on the structures this site has verified for the three common builds, not a simulation of in-game numbers. It answers the question the skill trees overview raises: with a finite pool under a day cap, what should the allocation look like before you spend?

Archetypes

The four preset buttons load the point structures from the build guides: the swordsman (Swordmastery anchor, light layers in both form trees), the predator (Vampirism deepest, a deliberate thin day kit), and the two hybrid leans — sword + night and sword + day. Moving any slider switches you to a free-form build, and the verdict tells you which published structure you are closest to and how well you match it.

The tier plan

Your committed points are split across the three tiers each build guide uses — roughly 45% on the first structural tier, 30% on coverage, 25% on endgame payoff — and each tier shows which trees it funds and what you are buying there. The split is a planning heuristic, not an in-game value: the useful part is the shape (what is funded early versus late), not the exact numbers.

The checks

The warnings are the decision rules from the build guides, applied to your allocation in real time: the anchor rule (a form tree outpacing Swordmastery means the build has lost its spine), the drift rules (a swordsman deep in Vampirism is no longer a swordsman; a predator whose day tree competes with the night has become a hybrid), the even-split failure (three similar depths is spreading, not building), and the reserve rule from the skill points and XP guide (a committed build with zero reserves is one bad night from a bad ending).

Frequently asked questions

What is the Dawnwalker build calculator? +

An interactive planner for The Blood of Dawnwalker. You set the total skill points your 30-day run grants, pick an archetype (swordsman, predator, or a hybrid) or allocate freely, and it shows your tier-by-tier point plan, your day/night power balance, and the shape problems to watch for before you spend a single point in-game.

Is it based on verified in-game node data? +

No, and be careful with tools that claim it. It works at the branch and tier level — the same level this site’s build guides are verified at — and it never asserts exact node names or per-node costs. Treat it as a plan to match against the branches shown in your skill menu, not a node-by-node script.

What pool size should I set? +

Whatever your version of the game actually grants over a 30-day run. The exact total is in-game data, so set the pool to match yours; every output scales with it, so any value gives you a workable plan.

How do shareable builds work? +

Your allocation is encoded into the URL itself, after a hash sign. Nothing is stored on a server — the build travels in the link, so it works with no account and no backend, and an old link always resolves to the same build.

Does the game have a respec? +

A respec is not confirmed for the launch build, so the calculator plans on the assumption that every point is permanent: commit in completed pieces, hold a reserve for the final stretch, and budget against day 30 rather than against "when I have enough points."
