Editions Compared: Which One to Buy

By Dawnwalker Guides Last updated: September 11, 2026 Verified on version 1.0 (launch)

The Blood of Dawnwalker launched on September 3, 2026 in four editions: Standard, Day One, Eclipse, and Collector’s. All four contain the identical base game, nothing granted early access, and every edition plays exactly the same — the decision is purely about the physical and digital extras around Coen’s story.

What the pre-order bonus actually gave you

The pre-order bonus across participating editions was the Sangoran Wayfarer’s Armor Set, which equips Coen with the gear of a Sangoran wayfarer, marked with the emblem of a nameless smith who travelled the continent in search of inspiration.

Two details matter if you are seeing it listed at a premium anywhere:

  • It was early-unlock content, not exclusive content. Every player can obtain the set later in the game without having pre-ordered — pre-ordering only moved it up to launch.
  • It was offered at participating retailers while stocks last. The pre-order window is now closed (launch was a week ago), so the set is a normal in-game obtainable — do not pay an “edition premium” for it.

What the extra content is

  • Digital World Compendium — an art and lore volume on Vale Sangora and its history.
  • Digital Comic Book — a prequel to the main campaign.
  • Digital Soundtrack — the game’s score.
  • Steelbook — a metal case with a full-colour illustration of Brencis’s court.
  • World Map — Vale Sangora illustrated in the style of 14th-century illuminations.
  • PureArts Coen Figurine (23 cm, in a collector box) — depicting Coen as human by day and vampire by night.
  • Physical World Compendium — a 60-page hardcover of concept art, sketches, and illustrations.

None of the digital extras change how the game plays; they are lore and music, not systems, and they do not touch the 30-day timer, the endings, or any story content.

Can I add content later?

Partially. The Eclipse digital content can be purchased as an upgrade on top of Standard (and Day One) — on Steam it is listed as a standalone item, “The Blood of Dawnwalker - Eclipse Edition Content.” The physical items, by contrast, are first-print products available while stocks last; if the Day One or Collector’s physical runs sell out, the Steelbook, map, figurine, and hardcover are not coming back.

Where it is sold, and when it unlocked

  • PC: Steam and GOG. PC unlocked worldwide at 22:00 UTC on September 2 (midnight CEST on September 3), which is why some store pages display “September 2” — it is the same launch as the publisher’s September 3 date.
  • PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S: the same September 3 rollout under each platform’s regional midnight rules, with Xbox Play Anywhere across the Xbox ecosystem.
  • There is no last-generation or Switch version — the confirmed platforms are PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC only.

Which edition to buy

  • Standard — the default. The complete game, no extras. Best if you just want to play, and the cheapest path in.
  • Day One — the value pick if you want physicals and the run has not sold out: the Steelbook and world map at, per the publisher, the same price as Standard.
  • Eclipse — the digital-only route for lore: compendium, prequel comic, and soundtrack with zero physical clutter. If you might want the extras later but don’t want to commit now, buy Standard and add the Eclipse upgrade afterward.
  • Collector’s — everything in one box: all physicals plus the full Eclipse digital upgrade. It is a limited edition for people who want the shelf pieces, not a gameplay upgrade.

If you are also checking whether your machine can run it, see the PC system requirements — and once you are in, the beginner guide and the prologue walkthrough are where to start.

Frequently asked questions

Does any edition of The Blood of Dawnwalker give early access?

No. Every edition — Standard, Day One, Eclipse, and Collector's — unlocked on the same day, September 3, 2026. The difference between editions is purely content: physical collectibles and digital extras.

Is the pre-order bonus worth it?

The Sangoran Wayfarer's Armor Set is early-unlock content: pre-ordering got it at launch, but every player can obtain it later in the game without paying. Since the pre-order window has closed, it is no longer a reason to buy an edition at a premium.

Can I buy the digital extras separately?

Yes. The Eclipse Edition content — the digital world compendium, prequel comic book, and soundtrack — is sold as a standalone upgrade (listed on Steam as 'The Blood of Dawnwalker - Eclipse Edition Content'), so you can start with Standard and add it later. The physical items cannot be bought separately.

Which edition is the best value?

By the publisher's own framing, the Day One Edition — a physical first print with the Steelbook and world map at the same price as Standard — is the value pick if physicals matter to you. If you only want to play, Standard is the simplest and cheapest option.
